On February 2, 2009, a cast of more than 375 performers and technicians traveled to the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC to present "Our Lincoln," a musical-historical celebration of our 16th president. The program featured some of the Commonwealth's most successful student musicians and vocalists from the University of Kentucky School of Music.

The UK Opera Theatre joined with the Lexington Singers and the UK Symphony Orchestra to perform selections from River of Time, a new American Folk Opera with lyrics and music by Kentuckians James Rodgers and Joseph Baber. The opera tells the story of Lincoln as a young man on a quest of self-discovery and personal destiny.

For those who missed "Our Lincoln" and would like to see a preview of the upcoming opera, the Kentucky Humanities Council has made the program available on DVD. Order your copy at kyhumanities.org. DVDs can also be purchased in person for $20 plus tax at the Kentucky Humanities Council's offices during business hours (M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm) or at the Lexington Opera House during the October 8-10, 2009 performances of River of Time.
